ABOUT THE CRESCENT LAKE DISTRICT SUBCOMMITTEE
The Crescent Lake District Subcommitee is comprised of passionate homeowners on Crescent Lake concerned about the vitality and health of their beloved lake. The subcommittee, comprised of five members with decades of fond memories of Crescent Lake, was tasked with researching the formation and operation of a Lake District. The subcommitee members include: Connie Anderson, Ryan Peterson, Jim Gehrke, Tim Kilgore, and Alan Janssen.
It's because of our strong passion towards Crescent Lake that our committee has taken the steps towards initiating the formation of a Lake District. We believe that we must have a sustainable funding source to help finance the proper equipment and materials to stop the spread of invasive species currently plaguing our lake. If left untreated, these invasive species, particularly Eurasian Water Milfoil, could permanently damage the lake's fish ecosystem, greatly limit recreational boating, displace native plants, and alter water chemistry. A Lake District also provides the ability to procure funds to stock the lake with fish, battle unforeseen environmental concerns in the future, and enhance boating opportunities, amongst a variety of other potential tasks.
While the prevention of the spread of invasive species is today's problem, our committee is aware that tomorrow's problem may be different. And we strongly believe that a Lake District is the best way to address not only the current problems our lake faces but future problems as well. It is with this mindset that we have created the District's mission statement:
The purpose of the Crescent Lake District is to preserve, protect, and enhance the shoreline and waters of Crescent Lake for current and future generations.
